§ 62-89. Water line service extensions.

  • (a)

    The city shall develop all undeveloped water line extensions at its discretion, and property owners abutting the line, except those who are already using metered city water on their property, will pay for this extension as each property owner's percent of total linear feet of line extension, hydrants, components and fixtures added by the city. Such payments are due at the time of line extension development. All water lines (and their extensions) including meters, valves, fire hydrants, components, fixtures and other attachments are the property of the city.

    (b)

    Water line extension development shall meet all federal, state, county and city standards and ordinances.

    (c)

    All extensions must be made within the city right-of-way to the nearest existing city water trunk line or water system.

    (d)

    All extensions are the property of the city.

    (e)

    The city may, at its discretion, use water from water line extensions free and without cost or reimbursement.
